Scottish pop - glam - bubblegum band
Formed in Glasgow in November 1974, after changing their name from Salvation and replacing drummer Matt Cairns with [a=Kenny Hyslop] and keyboardist Robin Birrel with [a=Billy McIsaac], with [a=Kevin McGinlay] departing for a solo career, leaving only bassist [a=Jim McGinlay] and guitarist [a=Midge Ure] from the Salvation line-up. They were launched as a glam pop band following their label [l=Polydor] instructions and after the failure of their debut single "The Boogiest Band In Town" they changed label and signed at [l=Bell Records] scoring their No.1 hit "Forever And Ever" in 1976. In March 1977 bassist [a=Jim McGinlay] left the band and was replaced by [a=Russell Webb], but they didn't last long. After their name change to [a=PVC2] for a punk single in 1977 they disbanded. [a=Midge Ure] joined [a=Rich Kids] and then [a=Ultravox], replacing [a=John Foxx] in 1980. [a=Kenny Hyslop], [a=Russell Webb] and [a=Billy McIsaac] went on as [a=Zones (2)] with singer - guitarist [a=Willie Gardner].
