UK disco singer best known for her 1976 #1 solo hits [m=188742] and [m=188740] (b. 10.03.1954, Whitechapel, London).
Recorded a number of singles in 1969 backed by then unknown [a=Elton John]. In the very early 70's she was in the female pop trio [a314767] as well as recorded a large number of anonymous lead vocals for the [l511229] series. Her breakthrough came with [a=Airbus (3)] / [a=5000 Volts] and the 1975 disco hit [m=113446] followed shortly after by her solo successes.
Her session work also includes backing [a=Elton John] and [a=Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel], a.o. on the hit [m=86326].
Her chosen stage name of Charles was a tribute to her father, Charles Hoskins.
