Alexander Alexandrov (b. 1957) is a Russian bassoonist, rock and jazz musician, composer. He had been playing with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/163453]Aquarium[/url] (1977-79/1979-81), [url=https://discogs.com/artist/210104]Zvuki Mu[/url] (1986) and [a=Tri-O] (since the late 1980s).

Alexander was born in a family of professional musicians, so he started playing piano and clarinet since early childhood. He studied at the Mussorgsky Music College and met [url=https://discogs.com/artist/398937]Aleksandr Lyapin[/url] there (later they played together in [b]Nu, Pogodi![/b] band). In 1975, Alexandrov started working as a musician at the Erik Goroshevsky's Theater of Real Art, where he became friends with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/678199]Seva Gakkel[/url] and other members of Aquarium. Alexander joined the band in 1976. After returning from a compulsory military service in 1979, he entered the Leningrad Conservatory and returned to Aquarium, performing with a band for two more years and participating in the [i]Tbilisi-80[/i] festival.

Since 1980, Alexander got more interested in jazz. He played with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/65839]Sergey Kuryokhin[/url] and [a=Anatoly Vapirov] in [b]Modern Jazz Trio[/b] in 1980-84. After moving to Moscow in 1986, Alexandrov joined Zvuki Mu band. He took part in recording sessions for the sole album of [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1757816]Sven Gundlach[/url]'s [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1757829]Central Russian Upland[/url] band at the end of 1986.

Since the end of the 1980s, Alexandrov regularly works with [url=https://discogs.com/artist/1237446]Sergey Letov[/url] in avant-jazz ensemble Tri-O. He has been composing soundtracks for German and French documentaries/popular science films since the 1990s.
