Her vocal style gained her the tag of "new [a=Aretha Franklin]" in the mid-70's.
She was noted by the production and songwriting duo of [a=Chuck Jackson (2)] and [a=Marvin Yancy].
She started recording in 1976 at [l=Capitol Records].
She married [a=Marvin Yancy] in 1976 - divorced in 1980.
She married the producer [a=Andre Fischer (2)] in 1989 - divorced in 1995.
Since 1976 she has received 9 Grammy Awards, the last one in 2009.
