Charles W. Miller

Saxophonist and flutist (July 2, 1939 – June 14, 1980) was an original member of [a=War], one of the premier ’70s funk bands. Started his carrer in recording sessions with [a=Ray Charles] and in live performances with [a=Brenton Wood]. Then with [a=Harold Brown], [a=Papa Dee Allen], and [a=Howard E. Scott] formed a band called Nightshift, also worked with [a=Eric Burdon] and [a=Lee Oskar]. Was murdered in a botched robbery just two weeks before his 41st birthday. The crime has never been solved.
