Петър Славов

Peter Slavov (Melon) was a legendary Bulgarian drummer born August 13, 1941 , in Sofia.
He began his career in the 1950's when he joined the Optimists Orchestra at age 17 .
In Peter Slavov joined Jazz Focus 65, the first Bulgarian modern jazz unit to record and tour in Western Europe.
In 1967, they were awarded the Audience Prize at the then-new Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland.
1979 - 2006 he was the drummer and leader the successful Bulgarian prog-rock band FSB.
On 1988, FSB worked on Joce Feliciano's Grammy-winning album "I'm Never Gonna Change"
Peter Slavov passed away in 2008 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

He is the father of New York City-based jazz bassist Peter Slavov
