Richard Marshall

'Scanty' (or 'Richard Scanty') is London based DJ and producer [a=Richard Marshall], a producer who over the years has been behind many well known club records, under a variety of guises. Previously recording with [a=Owen Pinnock] (AKA [a=Ten Bar]) as [a=Grand Larceny], "No Time For Playin" released through Urban Hero Records in 1996 became a huge underground club track, which was later remixed and picked up by [a=Norman Cook] for his [l=Southern Fried] label. This wasn't the first time that support had been found with a top line jock. The notorious dancefloor anthem "7 Hours In A Bathroom", this time under the guise of [a=Chopper] saw Richard get one of his tracks to the top of [a=Carl Cox]'s 1998 best tunes chart. And on the disco cut-up tip Richard, together with DJ [a=Mark Rowley] (as [a=Da Players]), created "Gentle Touch", the [a=Patrice Rushen] sampling monster that became [a=Paul "Trouble" Anderson]'s Loft classic of 1998.
During 1999 Richard became more involved with [a=Norman Cook]'s [l=Southern Fried] label, and many test acetates sent to the label initiated talks of a record deal. One of these acetates was "Jacko on Acid" - which was later retitled "Because Of You". It became [a=Fatboy Slim]'s record of the year in 1999 and Richard was signed under the new guise of 'Scanty Sandwich'.
"Because Of You" became Richard's debut into the UK National Charts at No.3 in January 2000. Since then, Richard has stayed with the same moniker, only choosing to shorten the name to 'Richard Scanty', and has spent the last years Djing and producing, including worldwide tours supporting [a=Darren Emerson], [a=Fatboy Slim] and [a=Howie B.] amongst others; playing UK and International dates for Big Beat Boutique, Creamfields and Free Jazz Festival in South America.
